These readers do not execute graphs or invoke a reconstruction model. ## Image prompts and supported files isGenAI reads supported generation settings saved by AUTOMATIC1111 in PNG, JPEG and WebP images, ComfyUI workflows in PNG images including Flux, and InvokeAI creation records in PNG images. Reading a saved prompt uses no AI model call. A workflow can identify AI use without containing a single recoverable prompt. Distinct InvokeAI main/style prompts are not collapsed into one original prompt. The Get prompt action first looks for a saved prompt. When none is found, it can suggest a new prompt for a similar result if reconstruction is available. A recreated prompt is not the original. The same workflow is available through POST /v1/prompt; see the API documentation. API callers can set mode=saved_only to extract saved image prompts without a model call or reconstruction fallback. Missing supported records return HTTP 422 with error.code no_saved_prompt. The API tutorial includes a downloadable Node.js example for this mode. ## Limits The public checker accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF and single-page classic TIFF images up to 20 MiB, and text or code up to 16,000 characters. TIFF inputs are limited to 40 megapixels; multipage files, TIFF subimages/pyramids and BigTIFF are rejected. TIFF checks inspect supported file records, fingerprints and descriptive pixel measurements; statistical detector and prompt-reconstruction adapters do not support TIFF. Supported upload formats and recoverable saved-prompt formats are different; file details must survive in the supplied copy. Missing AI signals do not establish human authorship. A statistical estimate is not verified origin. Editable metadata, signed credentials and known-copy matches are different kinds of evidence. No result establishes whether depicted events or claims are true. Provider availability is reported in each check. Uploaded content is private by default; public URL checks can create public evidence records. ## Browser image tools The 25-tool catalog includes task-specific steps, worked examples and matching question-and-answer guidance in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Japanese and Korean. By AI generator: - How do I check if an image was made with Midjourney? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/midjourney](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/midjourney): A Midjourney download can be identified from its own metadata: the IPTC lists Midjourney among generators that mark images with the DigitalSourceType value trainedAlgorithmicMedia, and isGenAI reads that declaration directly from the file. - How do I check if an image was made with DALL·E 3? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/dall-e-3](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/dall-e-3): A DALL·E 3 image downloaded from ChatGPT or the OpenAI API carries C2PA Content Credentials that name OpenAI as the signer, and isGenAI validates that signed record and shows the recorded AI action. - How do I check if an image was made with ChatGPT Images? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/chatgpt-images](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/chatgpt-images): Images generated in ChatGPT carry C2PA Content Credentials signed by OpenAI, so isGenAI can show a validated creation record for the original download; a screenshot carries nothing to read. - How do I check if an image was made with Stable Diffusion? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/stable-diffusion](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/stable-diffusion): Stable Diffusion itself writes no provenance; the interface around it does, and isGenAI exposes the saved prompt, negative prompt, seed, steps and model name that AUTOMATIC1111, ComfyUI and InvokeAI store in the original PNG. - How do I check if an image was made with SDXL? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/sdxl](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/sdxl): SDXL images are identified from the records their interface wrote into the PNG, and isGenAI reads the saved prompt, the recorded checkpoint name and SDXL-specific settings such as the refiner and style prompts when they are consistent. - How do I check if an image was made with FLUX? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/flux](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/flux): A FLUX image from the Black Forest Labs API or Playground carries C2PA Content Credentials that isGenAI validates, while a FLUX image rendered locally in ComfyUI carries an unsigned prompt graph that isGenAI reads instead. - How do I check if an image was made with Gemini and Imagen? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/gemini](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/gemini): Google marks Gemini and Imagen images with an invisible SynthID watermark and, for newer models such as Gemini 3 Pro Image, with C2PA Content Credentials signed by Google, and isGenAI validates that signed record when it is present. - How do I check if an image was made with Adobe Firefly? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/adobe-firefly](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/adobe-firefly): Adobe automatically applies Content Credentials to assets whose pixels are entirely generated with Firefly, naming Adobe Inc. as issuer and recording that generative AI was used, and isGenAI reveals and validates that signed record. - How do I check if an image was made with Ideogram? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/ideogram](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/ideogram): As of October 2026 Ideogram publishes no documentation of C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC source types or saved prompts in its downloads, so isGenAI reports exactly which records the file you upload contains rather than assuming any. - How do I check if an image was made with Leonardo.Ai? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/leonardo-ai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/leonardo-ai): Leonardo.Ai publishes no provenance documentation we could find as of October 2026, so an image from it is identified only by whatever records the download carries, and isGenAI lists each of those records with its source field. - How do I check if an image was made with Canva AI? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/canva-ai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/canva-ai): Canva publishes no documentation we could find of Content Credentials or IPTC source types on images made with its AI tools as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a Canva AI image only from the records the export actually carries. - How do I check if an image was made with Bing Image Creator? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/bing-image-creator](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/bing-image-creator): Microsoft announced that images from Bing Image Creator are signed with C2PA Content Credentials and marked with IPTC metadata, and isGenAI validates the manifest and reads the declared source type from the original download. - How do I check if an image was made with Meta AI? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/meta-ai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/meta-ai): Meta states that photorealistic images created with Meta AI carry visible markers, invisible watermarks and metadata embedded in the file, and isGenAI reads the IPTC DigitalSourceType declaration from that metadata on an original download. - How do I check if an image was made with Grok? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/grok](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/grok): xAI publishes no documentation we could find of C2PA Content Credentials or IPTC source types in Grok image downloads as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a Grok image only from records found in the file or from a matching copy in its records. - How do I check if an image was made with Recraft? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/recraft](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/recraft): Recraft publishes no provenance documentation we could find as of October 2026, so a Recraft image is identified only by the records in the exported file, and isGenAI lists each one with its source field or reports that none were found. - How do I check if an image was made with Krea? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/krea](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/krea): Krea’s documentation describes how to download images but says nothing about Content Credentials or source-type metadata as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a Krea image only from the records present in the file you upload. - How do I check if an image was made with NightCafe? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/nightcafe](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/nightcafe): NightCafe publishes no documentation we could find of Content Credentials, IPTC source types or saved prompts in its downloads as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a NightCafe image only from records found in the file or a matching copy. - How do I check if an image was made with Playground? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/playground-ai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/playground-ai): Playground publishes no documentation we could find of Content Credentials or source-type metadata in its exports as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a Playground image only from the records actually present in the file. - How do I check if an image was made with ComfyUI? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/comfyui](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/comfyui): ComfyUI writes its API prompt graph and editable workflow into the PNG as text chunks unless it is started with --disable-metadata, and isGenAI reads that graph to show the saved prompt, negative prompt, checkpoint and sampler settings. - How do I check if an image was made with AUTOMATIC1111? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/automatic1111](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/automatic1111): AUTOMATIC1111 adds the generation parameters to each PNG as a text chunk named parameters, and isGenAI reads that chunk, plus the same text in EXIF UserComment of JPEG and WebP exports, to show the prompt, negative prompt, seed, steps, sampler, CFG scale and model. - How do I check if an image was made with InvokeAI? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/invokeai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/invokeai): InvokeAI writes a JSON record named invokeai_metadata into each PNG, and isGenAI reads it to show the positive prompt, negative prompt, seed, steps, dimensions, model name and generation mode when the record is complete and consistent. - How do I check if an image was made with Fooocus? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/fooocus](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/fooocus): Fooocus writes generation metadata into its PNGs only when “Save Metadata to Images” is enabled (its default is off), using either its native fooocus JSON scheme or the A1111 plain-text scheme, and isGenAI reads the A1111 scheme as a saved prompt. - How do I check if an image was made with NovelAI? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/novelai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/novelai): An original NovelAI PNG stores its generation record in two text chunks: Software set to “NovelAI” and a JSON Comment holding the prompt, the undesired content (uc), seed, steps, sampler, scale and size. isGenAI’s image prompt extractor reads that record directly from the file, free and without an account. - How do I check if an image was made with Runway? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/runway](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/runway): Runway publishes no documentation we could find of Content Credentials in Gen-3 or Gen-4 exports as of October 2026, so a Runway file is checked for whatever it carries: the C2PA checker validates any manifest in an MP4 or MOV, and the AI image detector reads frames or stills exported as images. - How do I check if an image was made with Sora? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/sora](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/sora): OpenAI states that every video generated with Sora carries a visible watermark and embeds C2PA metadata, and isGenAI’s C2PA checker validates that manifest in an original MP4 or MOV download. By platform: - How do I check if an image from Instagram is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/instagram](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/instagram): Instagram labels posts with “AI info” when it reads C2PA or IPTC AI indicators at upload, but the image you save from Instagram is a re-encoded copy that normally carries none of those records, so the label is on the platform and the evidence must come from the original file. - How do I check if an image from TikTok is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/tiktok](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/tiktok): TikTok reads C2PA Content Credentials to label AI-generated images and videos automatically and states that it attaches Content Credentials to TikTok content so a downloaded TikTok can be verified, which makes a TikTok download one of the few platform files worth checking in the C2PA checker. - How do I check if an image from Facebook is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/facebook](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/facebook): Facebook labels images with “AI info” when Meta reads C2PA or IPTC AI indicators in the upload, but the copy you download from Facebook is re-encoded for delivery and normally carries no metadata, so the original file is what isGenAI needs. - How do I check if an image from X is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/x](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/x): X publishes no documentation of what it strips, and files saved from X posts are widely reported to arrive without EXIF, XMP or C2PA records, so an image from X is checked by tracing the original upload and using isGenAI’s matching-copy check rather than by reading the download. - How do I check if an image from WhatsApp is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/whatsapp](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/whatsapp): A photo sent through WhatsApp’s normal photo path is resized and re-encoded and arrives without its metadata, while a file sent as a document arrives byte for byte, so the only WhatsApp copy worth checking in isGenAI is one sent as a document. - How do I check if an image from Telegram is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/telegram](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/telegram): Telegram re-encodes pictures sent as photos and drops their metadata, while pictures sent as files arrive unchanged with every record intact, so ask for a file send before checking a Telegram image in isGenAI. - How do I check if an image from LinkedIn is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/linkedin](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/linkedin): LinkedIn displays a C2PA icon on images and videos that were cryptographically signed with Content Credentials and shows the credential details on click, so the icon on a post is a reliable platform observation even though the file you download may not keep the manifest. - How do I check if an image from Pinterest is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/pinterest](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/pinterest): Pinterest labels image Pins as “AI modified” when its systems detect generation or alteration from image metadata and classifiers, but a Pin saved from Pinterest is a re-encoded copy that normally carries none of that metadata, so the label is a platform observation and the original file is what isGenAI needs. - How do I check if an image from Reddit is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/reddit](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/reddit): Images uploaded to Reddit’s own image host are re-encoded and, as widely reported, lose EXIF, XMP and manifests, while posts that link to an external image serve that file untouched, so where a Reddit image is hosted decides whether isGenAI can read anything from it. - How do I check if an image from Discord is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/discord](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/discord): Discord publishes no policy on image metadata, its previews are re-encoded, and users have reported PNG text metadata being removed from attachments, so a Discord image should be downloaded as the original attachment and verified against the sender’s hash before isGenAI’s report is trusted as the original’s. - How do I check if an image from Snapchat is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/snapchat](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/snapchat): Snap states that images made with its generative AI tools get a visible ghost-and-sparkle watermark when exported or saved and show context cards in the app, so a Snapchat AI image is identified by that visible mark and by tracing the original, while a saved Snap carries no file records isGenAI can read. - How do I check if an image from YouTube is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/youtube](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/youtube): YouTube shows a “Captured with a camera” disclosure when a video carries unedited C2PA 2.1 or later credentials, and carries forward altered-or-synthetic disclosures from creators and from C2PA credentials that say a video was AI-made, so YouTube’s labels are platform observations derived from records that a downloaded or re-encoded copy will not contain. - How do I check if an image from Threads is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/threads](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/threads): Threads follows Meta’s policy of labelling images with “AI info” when C2PA or IPTC AI indicators are read at upload, and serves re-encoded copies that normally carry none of those records, so the Threads label is a platform observation and the original file is what isGenAI needs. - How do I check if an image from Messenger is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/messenger](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/messenger): Pictures sent as photos in Messenger are re-encoded for delivery and, as widely reported, arrive without metadata, while a picture sent as a file attachment arrives unchanged, so the file attachment is the only Messenger copy that gives isGenAI something to read. - How do I check if an image from Civitai is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/civitai](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/civitai): Civitai reads the generation data embedded in an uploaded image, such as the prompt, seed and resources, and shows it on the image page, but that data is present only when the uploader’s file carried it, and Civitai documents nothing about whether a copy saved from the page keeps it. - How do I check if an image from Pixiv is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/pixiv](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/pixiv): Pixiv asks creators to mark a work as “AI-generated” when posting and shows that label on the work, but the label is a self-declaration that lives on the page, so the file itself must be checked for any C2PA manifest, XMP statement or saved prompt. - How do I check if an image from DeviantArt is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/deviantart](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/deviantart): DeviantArt shows a “Created using AI tools” label when the artist selects it on the submit page or when the uploaded image’s metadata indicates AI, so the label records what DeviantArt read at upload and the downloaded file must be checked on its own. - How do I check if an image from ArtStation is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/artstation](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/artstation): ArtStation lets viewers hide projects tagged CreatedWithAI and requires that tag on generative-AI Marketplace products, while its NoAI tag is an HTML opt-out from AI use, so both are page signals and the image file must be checked separately. - How do I check if an image from Bluesky is AI-generated? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/bluesky](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/from/bluesky): The Bluesky app re-encodes images as JPEG before upload, which removes EXIF, XMP, C2PA and saved prompts, so an image saved from Bluesky normally carries no records and any AI label comes from a moderation labeler on the post, not from the file. By file format: - Can I check a PNG file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/png](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/png): PNG is the richest format for AI evidence because it stores saved prompts in tEXt, zTXt and iTXt text chunks, EXIF in an eXIf chunk, XMP in an iTXt chunk and C2PA manifests in a JUMBF chunk, and isGenAI reads every one of those from an original PNG. - Can I check a JPEG file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/jpeg](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/jpeg): A JPEG stores its provenance in application segments: EXIF and XMP in APP1, IPTC-IIM in APP13 and C2PA manifests in APP11 JUMBF boxes, and isGenAI reads the signed manifest, the IPTC DigitalSourceType, AI statements and AUTOMATIC1111 prompts kept in EXIF UserComment. - Can I check a WebP file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/webp](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/webp): WebP stores provenance in named RIFF chunks, EXIF and XMP for metadata and a C2PA chunk for Content Credentials, and isGenAI reads the signed manifest, the IPTC source type in XMP, AI statements and AUTOMATIC1111 prompts kept in EXIF UserComment from an original WebP. - Can I check a AVIF file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/avif](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/avif): AVIF is an ISO base media (HEIF) container that carries EXIF and XMP as metadata items and C2PA manifests in a JUMBF box, and isGenAI’s AI image detector and C2PA checker accept AVIF and read the signed record, the IPTC source type and AI statements from it. - Can I check a HEIC file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/heic](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/heic): HEIC is Apple’s HEIF container with HEVC images, carrying EXIF and XMP as items and C2PA manifests in a JUMBF box; isGenAI’s C2PA checker accepts HEIC directly, while the AI image detector needs a JPEG or PNG copy, which the HEIC to JPG converter makes in your browser. - Can I check a TIFF file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/tiff](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/tiff): TIFF stores provenance as directory tags, EXIF in a sub-IFD, XMP and IPTC as byte tags and C2PA in its own tag, and isGenAI’s AI image detector, EXIF viewer and C2PA checker accept a classic single-page TIFF up to 20 MiB and read those records from the original bytes. - Can I check a GIF file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/gif](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/gif): GIF has no EXIF container and only an optional XMP application extension, is not accepted by isGenAI’s image tools, and almost every AI GIF has been through a palette re-encode that leaves nothing to read, so the realistic check is to trace the source file. - Can I check a BMP file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/bmp](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/bmp): BMP stores raw pixels with a short header and defines no field for EXIF, XMP, IPTC or C2PA, so a BMP can never carry AI provenance; convert a copy to PNG and use isGenAI’s matching-copy and pixel checks instead. - Can I check a SVG file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/svg](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/svg): SVG is XML, so any provenance is written as elements in the text, typically an RDF or XMP block in a metadata element, and the C2PA specification allows a manifest in SVG; isGenAI’s image tools read raster containers, so an SVG is checked by reading its XML or by rasterising a copy for pixel and matching-copy checks. - Can I check a PDF file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/pdf](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/pdf): A PDF carries document-level XMP in its metadata stream and can hold a C2PA manifest for the whole document, which isGenAI’s C2PA checker validates; the AI images placed inside a PDF keep their own records only if the authoring tool preserved them, so extract them to check each one. - Can I check a MP4 file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/mp4](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/mp4): MP4 can carry a C2PA manifest in a top-level uuid box plus creation dates and track details in its movie headers, and isGenAI validates the manifest in the C2PA checker, reads the headers in the video metadata viewer and lets you extract frames for image checks. - Can I check a MOV file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/mov](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/mov): A QuickTime MOV uses the same box structure as MP4 and can carry a C2PA manifest in a uuid box along with creation dates in its headers, and isGenAI validates the manifest in the C2PA checker and reads the headers in the video metadata viewer. - Can I check a WebM file for AI evidence? → [https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/webm](https://isgenai.com/ai-image-detector/format/webm): WebM is a Matroska-based container that isGenAI’s C2PA checker and video metadata viewer do not accept, so a WebM is checked by extracting frames in your browser with the video frame extractor and running the matching-copy check on those frames. Glossary: - What is C2PA? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/c2pa](https://isgenai.com/glossary/c2pa): C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) is an open technical standard for attaching a cryptographically signed manifest to a media file that records who signed it and which actions, including AI generation, produced it. - What is Provenance? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/provenance](https://isgenai.com/glossary/provenance): Provenance is the documented origin and edit history of a piece of media, recorded in signed manifests, declared metadata fields and saved tool records, as opposed to detection, which guesses origin from the content itself. - What is EXIF? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/exif](https://isgenai.com/glossary/exif): EXIF (Exchangeable image file format) is the CIPA standard for storing capture metadata such as camera model, lens, exposure, date and GPS in a TIFF-structured block inside JPEG, TIFF, WebP and PNG files, and some AI tools reuse its UserComment tag to store generation parameters. - What is XMP? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/xmp](https://isgenai.com/glossary/xmp): XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) is an ISO-standardised, RDF/XML metadata packet embedded in image, video and document files that carries namespaced properties such as the creator tool, descriptions and the IPTC Digital Source Type used to declare AI generation. - What is JUMBF? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/jumbf](https://isgenai.com/glossary/jumbf): JUMBF (JPEG Universal Metadata Box Format, ISO/IEC 19566-5) is a container of typed boxes, borrowed from the ISO base media file format, that C2PA uses to store a manifest store inside JPEG APP11 segments, a PNG chunk, a WebP chunk, HEIF and MP4 boxes, TIFF tags and PDF. - What is AI watermark? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-watermark](https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-watermark): An AI watermark is a marker added to generated content to signal its origin, either a visible logo or label rendered into the picture, or an invisible signal embedded in the pixels, audio or text that a matching detector can recognise after metadata has been removed. - What is AI-generated image? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-generated-image](https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-generated-image): An AI-generated image is a picture whose pixels were produced by a generative model such as a diffusion or transformer model from a text prompt, a reference image or both, as opposed to a photograph captured by a sensor or an illustration drawn by hand. - What is AI image detector? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-image-detector](https://isgenai.com/glossary/ai-image-detector): An AI image detector is a tool that reports whether an image was generated or altered by AI, either by estimating from the pixels with a trained classifier or by reading the provenance records, labels and saved prompts inside the file, which is the approach isGenAI takes. - What is Prompt metadata? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/prompt-metadata](https://isgenai.com/glossary/prompt-metadata): Prompt metadata is the text prompt, negative prompt, seed, sampler, steps and model name that some AI image tools write into the image file itself, typically as PNG text chunks or EXIF UserComment, so the exact generation instructions can be read back later. - What is PNG text chunk? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/png-text-chunk](https://isgenai.com/glossary/png-text-chunk): A PNG text chunk is an ancillary chunk of type tEXt, zTXt or iTXt that stores a keyword and a text value inside a PNG file, used by AI tools for records such as parameters, prompt, workflow and invokeai_metadata and by editors for XMP under the keyword XML:com.adobe.xmp. - What is ComfyUI workflow? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/comfyui-workflow](https://isgenai.com/glossary/comfyui-workflow): A ComfyUI workflow is the node graph that produced an image, saved by ComfyUI into the PNG as two text chunks: workflow, the editable graph with layout, and prompt, the API execution graph of node classes and inputs, both restorable by dragging the image back onto the canvas. - What is A1111 parameters? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/a1111-parameters](https://isgenai.com/glossary/a1111-parameters): A1111 parameters is the plain-text generation record that the AUTOMATIC1111 Stable Diffusion web UI writes into a PNG text chunk named parameters, or into EXIF UserComment for JPEG and WebP, holding the prompt, an optional negative prompt and a settings line with steps, sampler, CFG scale, seed, size and model. - What is EU AI Act Article 50? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/eu-ai-act-article-50](https://isgenai.com/glossary/eu-ai-act-article-50): Article 50 of the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) sets transparency obligations for certain AI systems: providers must tell people they are interacting with AI and mark synthetic output in a machine-readable, detectable way, and deployers must disclose emotion recognition, deepfakes and certain AI-generated public-interest text, applying from 2 August 2026. - What is Transparency obligation? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/transparency-obligation](https://isgenai.com/glossary/transparency-obligation): A transparency obligation is a legal duty under the EU AI Act, chiefly Article 50, requiring providers and deployers of certain AI systems to inform people that they are interacting with AI, that content was AI-generated or manipulated, or that an emotion recognition or biometric system is operating. - What is Machine-readable marking? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/machine-readable-marking](https://isgenai.com/glossary/machine-readable-marking): Machine-readable marking is the EU AI Act Article 50(2) requirement that providers mark synthetic audio, image, video and text outputs in a format software can read, so the content is detectable as artificially generated or manipulated, using techniques such as C2PA metadata, IPTC fields and watermarks. - What is Manifest? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/manifest](https://isgenai.com/glossary/manifest): A C2PA manifest is the signed data structure that records one set of provenance statements about an asset, consisting of assertions (what happened), a claim (a signed list of those assertions with content hashes) and a claim signature, stored with any earlier manifests in the file’s manifest store. - What is Signed receipt? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/signed-receipt](https://isgenai.com/glossary/signed-receipt): A signed receipt is a record issued by isGenAI for a completed check that binds the file’s SHA-256 hash, the evidence found, the checks that ran and the timestamp under a digital signature, so a third party can confirm later that this report was produced for exactly this file and has not been altered. - What is Hash? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/hash](https://isgenai.com/glossary/hash): A hash is a fixed-length value computed from every byte of a file by a one-way function such as SHA-256, so that any change to the file produces a different value and two files with the same hash are, for practical purposes, identical byte for byte. - What is Perceptual hash? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/perceptual-hash](https://isgenai.com/glossary/perceptual-hash): A perceptual hash is a short fingerprint computed from an image’s visual content, such as the brightness pattern of a downscaled greyscale version, designed so that resized, recompressed or lightly edited copies of the same picture produce similar values that can be compared by Hamming distance. - What is Generator tag? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/generator-tag](https://isgenai.com/glossary/generator-tag): A generator tag is any metadata field that names the software or service that produced an image, such as XMP xmp:CreatorTool, EXIF Software, a PNG Software text chunk or a C2PA claim generator, which is strong evidence only when it sits inside a signed manifest and weak evidence when it is a bare editable field. - What is Metadata stripping? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/metadata-stripping](https://isgenai.com/glossary/metadata-stripping): Metadata stripping is the removal of a file’s embedded records, EXIF, XMP, IPTC, PNG text chunks and C2PA manifests, either deliberately by a privacy tool or incidentally by re-encoding in an editor, converter, messaging app or social platform, leaving the pixels but none of the provenance. - What is Soft binding? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/soft-binding](https://isgenai.com/glossary/soft-binding): A soft binding, in C2PA terms, is a way to associate content with its manifest without relying on embedded metadata, using an invisible watermark or a content fingerprint recorded in a soft-binding assertion, so that a stripped copy can be matched back to the manifest held elsewhere. - What is Hard binding? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/hard-binding](https://isgenai.com/glossary/hard-binding): A hard binding is the cryptographic hash of the asset’s content, excluding the manifest itself, recorded inside a signed C2PA claim, so that a validator can recompute the hash and prove the content has not changed since the manifest was signed. - What is Trust list? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/trust-list](https://isgenai.com/glossary/trust-list): A trust list is the set of root and intermediate certificates that a C2PA validator accepts as legitimate signers, so that a manifest whose signature is mathematically valid is reported as trusted only if its signing certificate chains to an entry on the list. - What is Certificate? → [https://isgenai.com/glossary/certificate](https://isgenai.com/glossary/certificate): A signing certificate is an X.509 certificate, issued by a certificate authority, whose public key verifies a C2PA manifest’s signature and whose subject names the organisation that signed it, so that a validator can tell who vouched for the record and whether that identity is trusted. ## Optional Secondary reference hubs.
