Blur an Image
Apply a bounded box blur to an image, preview the effect and download the resulting PNG.
Your selected images stay in this browser. No AI model call or server upload.
Selected files: 0 · PNG, JPEG and WebP. Up to 8 MB per file and 12 million decoded pixels. Batch totals cannot exceed 40 MB. Exports are still images; animation is not retained.
Exported images do not carry the original saved prompts, EXIF or Content Credentials. Keep the original file when you need its creation records.
Amount sets a blur radius in pixels, up to 30. The filter averages neighboring color and alpha values. Blurring is a visual effect; it does not guarantee secure redaction of sensitive information.
How to use this tool
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, or try the built-in example before selecting your own file.
- Set Amount to a whole-number blur radius from 0 to 30 pixels. Start at 5 for a light blur, then increase it to soften more detail.
- Run the tool, inspect the preview at the intended display size and download the PNG. Change the radius and run again to compare results.
Frequently asked questions
How do I blur an image online for free?
Select a PNG, JPEG or WebP file, choose a blur radius from 0 to 30 and run the tool. Review the result and download the PNG. Processing stays in your browser, and no account is required.
Can I blur only a face or the background?
This tool applies box blur to the whole image. It does not select faces, detect a subject or provide a brush for a small region. Use an editor with region selection when you need only part of the image blurred.
Does blur reliably hide private text or a face?
No. Blur changes appearance but does not guarantee secure redaction. Recognizable shapes or information may remain. For sensitive content, remove the region or replace it with a solid opaque area in an editor, then inspect the exported file.
Can I unblur an image with this tool?
No. This filter averages neighboring pixels and cannot reconstruct lost detail. Keep your original image. The separate sharpen tool increases edge contrast but does not reverse blur or recover missing information.
