Write a disclosure readers can trust
A badge is a summary, not a policy. Publish a short AI policy page that says which tools you use, for what, and how a person reviews the result, then link the badge to it with the “AI policy page” option. Label individual AI-generated images next to the image as well; the EU AI Act’s Article 50 transparency duties, for example, apply to the content itself, not only to the site. See what Article 50 requires.
Back the badge with evidence
If you export images with Content Credentials, readers can inspect the signed C2PA record themselves. Upload your own files to the C2PA checker before you publish to confirm the record survived your workflow, and read the Content Credentials guide for what a record can and cannot prove. Many platforms strip metadata on upload, so a missing record is not evidence either way.
How we keep the code clean
- One optional, visible credit link with the plain anchor “isGenAI”; no hidden or keyword links.
- The credit link defaults to
rel="nofollow"; you decide whether to keep, change or remove it. - No JavaScript, cookies, iframes or tracking pixels: the badge is an SVG image and the widget is an HTML form.
- Badge images are served with long caching and work on any site, including static sites.
Badge and widget questions
Does isGenAI certify my site when I add a badge?
No. Each badge is your own declaration about how you use generative AI, in the same way a written AI policy is. isGenAI does not audit, monitor or certify sites that use the badges, and the badge text says “Self-declared”. Link the badge to your AI policy page so readers can see exactly what it covers.
Which badge should I choose?
Use “No generative AI” only if your published content is made without generative AI tools, “AI-assisted” when people create the work and AI helps with parts of it, and “AI-generated media” when you publish images, video, audio or text generated with AI. “Content Credentials” fits sites that export images with C2PA records, and “Check our images” invites readers to inspect them.
Do I have to link to isGenAI?
No. The “Badge by isGenAI” credit is optional; switch it off and the badge still works. When you keep it, it is a single visible link with the plain name “isGenAI”, marked rel="nofollow" by default, which suits code placed in templates and footers. You can change the attribute or remove the link at any time.
How does the “Check with isGenAI” widget work?
It is a plain HTML form with no script. A visitor pastes an image or page address and presses Check; isgenai.com opens in a new tab with the address filled in on the URL tab of the free checker, and the visitor starts the check. Nothing runs on your site, and the checker reads public files only.
Does the badge track my visitors?
The badge is a static SVG image served from isgenai.com with long caching. It sets no cookies and runs no script. As with any embedded image, the visitor’s browser requests it from isgenai.com; see the privacy policy for how server requests are handled.
Can I add the badge in WordPress?
Yes. Paste the HTML into a Custom HTML block, or copy the WordPress shortcode code into a code-snippets plugin (or a child theme’s functions.php) and place [isgenai_badge badge="ai-assisted" theme="light" policy="https://example.com/ai-policy"] in any post, page or widget area.
