AI image detector by generator

AUTOMATIC1111 image detector: PNG info without the web UI

AUTOMATIC1111 adds the generation parameters to each PNG as a text chunk named parameters, and isGenAI reads that chunk, plus the same text in EXIF UserComment of JPEG and WebP exports, to show the prompt, negative prompt, seed, steps, sampler, CFG scale and model.

Saved prompt found

The generator wrote its settings into the file.

Prompt, negative prompt, seed, sampler and model are read word for word, with the field they came from.

What the web UI writes

The AUTOMATIC1111 feature list states that the UI adds information about generation parameters to the PNG as a text chunk, viewable with any PNG chunk inspector. The record is a single text block: the prompt, an optional “Negative prompt:” line and a settings line beginning with Steps and Sampler. For JPEG and WebP the same text is placed in EXIF UserComment.

The record is unsigned. Anyone can edit or remove it, and extensions can add fields.

What isGenAI shows

The report lists a saved generation prompt with the model name and the recorded settings: seed, steps, sampler, scheduler, CFG scale, size and denoising strength when present. The image prompt extractor shows the full text and lets you copy it. If the file also carries a ComfyUI or InvokeAI record that disagrees, the checker reports a conflict rather than picking one.

A damaged chunk, a failed checksum or a duplicate key makes the record unreadable, and the report says so instead of showing a partial prompt.

What survives sharing

PNG text chunks and EXIF UserComment survive a plain file copy and a “send as document” transfer, and nothing else: screenshots, social uploads and compressed chat photos remove them. Civitai and similar galleries may keep or strip them depending on upload path.

The guides on AUTOMATIC1111 PNG parameters and saved generation settings walk through real example files.

How to check an image from this generator

  1. Get the original download, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat or social feed.
  2. Upload it to the free AI image detector. Files up to 20 MiB in PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or TIFF are read on the server and are private by default.
  3. Open “How we checked” and read each finding with its source field: signed record, declared source type, saved prompt, AI statement or matching copy.
  4. Treat a clean result as “no evidence found”, never as proof that a person made the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Does AUTOMATIC1111 add metadata to images?

Yes. The web UI adds generation parameters to PNG as a text chunk named parameters, and writes the same text to EXIF UserComment for JPEG and WebP, per its feature documentation.

Can I read AUTOMATIC1111 PNG info online?

Yes. Upload the original file to the image prompt extractor or the AI image detector and isGenAI shows the prompt, negative prompt, seed, sampler, steps, CFG and model as saved.

Is an AUTOMATIC1111 image detectable after a screenshot?

No. The text chunk is gone and isGenAI does not infer origin from pixels. Use the original output file.

Why does the report say the record is unreadable?

A failed PNG checksum, a truncated file, a duplicate parameters key or text over the size limit makes the record ambiguous, and isGenAI refuses to show a partial prompt.
