Disclosures, platforms & rules
YouTube’s AI label changed in 2026. Here is what to check.
The label is a starting point for understanding production. To judge a clip, you still need to know which part was altered and what claim the video makes.
What YouTube announced
On May 27, 2026, YouTube announced more prominent AI disclosures: beneath the player for long-form videos and overlaid on Shorts. It also described automatic labels for significant photorealistic AI use when creators have not specified their use. Certain disclosures, including some tied to its own tools or generative-AI C2PA metadata, remain permanent. YouTube says a disclosure alone does not change recommendation or monetization eligibility.

Review the claim and the production separately
Consider a clearly labeled synthetic reenactment of a documented event. The reenactment is generated; the event may still have happened. Now consider genuine footage presented with an invented date. Its production can be authentic while its caption is misleading. Your review should specify which question it answers.
- Open the original video rather than judging a screen recording of the player.
- Record the visible disclosure and the creator’s production explanation.
- Identify whether the contested element is a face, voice, background, entire scene or caption.
- Check the underlying event through sources independent of the video.
When a clip travels without its label
A repost, crop or screen recording can separate the scene from the original description. In your own notes, retain the source URL and the disclosure text alongside the excerpt. If you publish a correction, explain where the production information was found instead of implying that every viewer saw the same interface.
isGenAI’s image tools can inspect supported still-image files from a workflow. They do not determine whether the soundtrack or performance in an entire video is genuine.

Put the next question to the file.
Choose the supported tool that fits your question. Keep the original source and save the output with your notes. Frame extraction, file-record inspection and still-image checks answer different questions; none alone authenticates a complete video or its audio.
