A working example, with the files

Read saved image seeds, steps and CFG settings

Read the stored settings before attempting to recreate an image. isGenAI reports supported values that exist in the file and leaves unavailable fields out. It does not fill a missing seed or sampler with a default.

Follow the steps

  1. Download the original and changed-settings PNGs below.
  2. Read each file in the saved-prompt extractor. Both have the same positive prompt.
  3. Compare the settings: the original records seed 42 and 20 steps; the changed copy records seed 84 and 30 steps.

Different settings can accompany the same pixels

For this controlled example, we changed the record without regenerating the picture. The decoded RGBA pixels are identical. This makes it possible to test the settings display without suggesting that the new seed created the image.

A seed alone is not a complete recipe. Keep the other recorded settings and the original file; unsupported or absent fields remain unknown.

Generation dimensions and file dimensions

The example record says 1024 × 768 for generation. The current image has its own measured width and height, shown in the output. Read these as separate fields.

The metadata comparison tool distinguishes image width from saved generation width. A difference is a reason to inspect the history, not automatic proof of any specific edit.

Compare the fields that changed

Use the metadata comparison tool for a side-by-side table. Here, seed and steps change while the prompt remains the same. Download its report if another person needs to review the exact values.

Try the verified example

We drew the picture by code and attached controlled records. The saved prompts and model names are demonstration data. These files test record reading; no image generator, screenshot app or social network was used to create these test results.

Observed output

Original compared with changed-settings.png. Same file bytes: no. Same decoded pixels: yes.

Seed values in the JSON are strings so that large integers retain their precision. A null result here means no supported saved prompt was returned.

Fixtures and observations are CC0-1.0. Download all observations and versions or read the procedure. The complete Node.js reproduction script (requires sharp) creates the same test inputs and compares bytes and pixels. The isGenAI source checkout additionally verifies saved fields with npx tsx scripts/build-guide-lab.ts.
