AMA 11th edition rules the generator applies

  • Authors: surname and initials with no periods or spaces (Grady JS). Up to six authors are listed; with seven or more, the first three then “et al”.
  • Titles: article and web page titles in sentence case; book and journal titles in italics. Type titles the way AMA expects, since case cannot be converted reliably.
  • Journal details: abbreviated journal name (use the NLM abbreviation, for example JAMA or N Engl J Med), then year;volume(issue):pages with a hyphen between pages.
  • DOI: written as doi:10.xxxx with no space and no https prefix.
  • In-text: superscript numbers in order of first citation.
