AI image detector by generator

Adobe Firefly image detector: reveal the Content Credentials

Adobe automatically applies Content Credentials to assets whose pixels are entirely generated with Firefly, naming Adobe Inc. as issuer and recording that generative AI was used, and isGenAI reveals and validates that signed record.

Content Credentials found

A signed manifest describes how the file was made.

Signer, recording tool, actions and the signature check result are reported separately, so you can weigh each one.

What Adobe documents

Adobe’s Firefly help states that Content Credentials are applied automatically to assets where all of the pixels are generated with Firefly, such as Text to Image, and that automatically applied credentials always include the issuer, a summary noting that Adobe generative AI was used, the app or device, the AI tool and the actions taken. Credentials may also be stored in Adobe’s public Content Credentials cloud, which allows recovery when a file is stripped.

Partly edited images, such as a photo retouched with Generative Fill, follow different rules and may not receive the automatic credential. Check the actual export.

What isGenAI shows for a Firefly file

Upload the original export and the report lists a signed creation record: signature validity, whether Adobe’s certificate is on the trust list, the claim generator and the recorded generation action. The digital source type trainedAlgorithmicMedia inside the manifest makes it strong, direct evidence that AI was used.

If the manifest is present but the hash no longer matches, the checker reports a broken binding, which usually means the file was edited after signing.

After editing or sharing

Saving from an app that understands Content Credentials keeps the chain; saving from one that does not breaks or drops it. Social uploads and screenshots remove it. Adobe’s cloud storage of credentials and the C2PA soft-binding idea exist precisely for this case, but isGenAI reports only what the file you upload contains.

The C2PA checker shows the manifest in detail; the image metadata compare tool shows what a copy lost.

How to check an image from this generator

  1. Get the original download, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat or social feed.
  2. Upload it to the free AI image detector. Files up to 20 MiB in PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or TIFF are read on the server and are private by default.
  3. Open “How we checked” and read each finding with its source field: signed record, declared source type, saved prompt, AI statement or matching copy.
  4. Treat a clean result as “no evidence found”, never as proof that a person made the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Does Adobe Firefly add Content Credentials?

Yes. Adobe documents automatic Content Credentials on assets whose pixels are entirely generated with Firefly, with Adobe Inc. as issuer and a note that generative AI was used, as of October 2026.

What does isGenAI reveal from a Firefly image?

The signed creation record: validation state, signer trust, claim generator and the recorded AI generation action, listed as strong direct evidence when the signature is intact.

Is a Firefly image detectable after a screenshot?

Not from the file. The manifest is gone and isGenAI does not read pixels. Adobe may hold a copy of the credential in its cloud, but isGenAI reports only the uploaded file.

Does a Generative Fill edit get a credential?

Adobe’s current help ties automatic credentials to assets that are entirely Firefly-generated. A partially edited photo may carry a credential only if the editing app attached one; inspect the export.
