Bing Image Creator detector: read Microsoft’s signed record
Microsoft announced that images from Bing Image Creator are signed with C2PA Content Credentials and marked with IPTC metadata, and isGenAI validates the manifest and reads the declared source type from the original download.

The file labels itself as AI-made.
IPTC DigitalSourceType such as trainedAlgorithmicMedia is read from XMP and shown with its exact value.

IPTC reported Microsoft’s announcement that content created with its generative tools, including Bing Image Creator, would be signalled using the C2PA specification and IPTC metadata, with the metadata added in a way that can be verified using digital certificates. A signed manifest is stronger than an editable field because any change to the image or the manifest invalidates the signature.
We did not find a current Microsoft page listing every Designer and Copilot surface that writes the credential, so inspect the specific download you hold.
What isGenAI shows
With a valid Microsoft-signed manifest, the report lists a signed creation record: signature validity, signer trust, claim generator and the recorded AI action, with trainedAlgorithmicMedia as the digital source type. If only the IPTC declaration remains, it is listed as a declared source type of moderate strength.
Signature validity and signer trust are printed separately so you can see whether the certificate chain was recognised.
After sharing
Screenshots remove everything; social uploads usually remove the manifest and often the XMP. A Bing image saved from a feed is therefore normally stripped, and the report will say no evidence found. Get the original download from the creator’s history.
A stripped copy can still be tied to an original through the hash and perceptual fingerprint match in isGenAI’s records.
How to check an image from this generator
- Get the original download, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat or social feed.
- Upload it to the free AI image detector. Files up to 20 MiB in PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or TIFF are read on the server and are private by default.
- Open “How we checked” and read each finding with its source field: signed record, declared source type, saved prompt, AI statement or matching copy.
- Treat a clean result as “no evidence found”, never as proof that a person made the picture.
Frequently asked questions
Does Bing Image Creator add C2PA metadata?
Microsoft announced C2PA signing and IPTC marking for Bing Image Creator output, as reported by IPTC. Verify the specific download, since not every Microsoft surface is documented.
Is a Bing Image Creator image detectable after a screenshot?
No. The manifest and XMP are gone and isGenAI does not infer origin from pixels. Obtain the original file.
What does isGenAI show for a valid Microsoft credential?
A signed creation record with validation state, trust state, claim generator and the recorded AI generation action, listed as strong direct evidence.
Why might the signature show as untrusted?
A signature can be mathematically valid while the certificate is not on the trust list isGenAI uses. The report prints both facts so you can judge the record.
