Decopy AI image detector vs isGenAI

Decopy’s AI image detector analyses pixels for artifacts and texture patterns, explicitly not EXIF metadata, and returns a percentage with a short explanation; it allows 5 checks without logging in. isGenAI reads the metadata Decopy skips (C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC labels, saved prompts) and shows the field behind each finding, free with no account.

isGenAI (isgenai.com) is not affiliated with Decopy. Looking for Decopy itself? Go to decopy.ai/ai-image-detector.

ResultNamed findings, each with the field it came from, or “no AI evidence found” (which means no record in that copy, not proof of a camera).A percentage confidence with a text explanation of which areas look generated. (source)
File typesPNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF up to 20 MiB plus single-page TIFF; the C2PA checker also reads HEIC/HEIF, PDF, MP4 and MOV up to 25 MiB.JPG, PNG and WebP by upload or URL; 10 MB is given as the maximum. (source)

Upload retentionPrivate by default: private checks stay out of public reports, and the C2PA checker processes uploads in memory without storing them. The detector page says uploads are deleted right after analysis and not used for training. (source)

When to use which

Choose Decopy when

  • You want a written explanation of which areas of a record-free image look generated.
  • You also want Decopy’s reverse image search alongside the score.
  • You prefer an interface in one of its nine languages.

Choose isGenAI when

  • You need the metadata Decopy does not use: C2PA, IPTC labels and saved prompts.
  • You check more than five files and do not want to register.
  • You need an API, which Decopy does not list.

Content Credentials found

A signed manifest describes how the file was made.

Signer, recording tool, actions and the signature check result are reported separately, so you can weigh each one.

How to do the same job with isGenAI

  1. Get the original file, ideally the download from the generator or the sender, not a screenshot or a copy re-saved by a social app.
  2. Open the free AI image detector at isgenai.com/ai-image-detector and upload the file. No account is needed.
  3. Read each finding with the field it came from: a C2PA manifest, an IPTC digital source type, a saved prompt or generator metadata.
  4. If the report says no AI evidence was found, treat that as “no record in this copy”, then look for the original source or run a pixel-based classifier if you need a probability.

Questions

Does Decopy read image metadata?

Its detector page says it analyses pixels and not EXIF metadata (as of October 2026). isGenAI reads C2PA, IPTC and saved prompts, which is the evidence a pixel check leaves out.

Is isGenAI free without limits like Decopy’s five checks?

isGenAI does not ask for an account or count free checks in the web checker. When shared capacity is busy, the API can ask clients to retry later.

Why would the two give different answers?

Decopy estimates from appearance; isGenAI reports records. A screenshot of a generated image has no records, and a heavily edited photo may look generated while its record says otherwise.

Is isGenAI affiliated with Decopy?

No. isGenAI is independent and not affiliated with Decopy. Facts here come from decopy.ai as of October 2026.
