Compare Image Pixels
Compare two equally sized images locally with a pixel difference map, adjustable tolerance and original-file SHA-256 fingerprints.
Your selected images stay in this browser. No AI model call or server upload.
Selected files: 0 · PNG, JPEG and WebP. Up to 8 MB per file and 12 million decoded pixels. Batch totals cannot exceed 40 MB. Exports are still images; animation is not retained.
Exported images do not carry the original saved prompts, EXIF or Content Credentials. Keep the original file when you need its creation records.
At the default threshold of zero, any decoded RGBA difference counts. The English interface also lets you ignore differences up to a selected threshold. Download the PNG map and JSON receipt; original-file fingerprints and decoded pixel equality are separate. No resizing, alignment or AI-origin verdict is applied.
How to use this tool
- Select exactly two still PNG, JPEG or WebP images, each up to 8 MiB and 12 million pixels, with identical decoded width and height. Animated and multi-picture files are rejected.
- Keep the channel threshold at 0 for exact decoded RGBA comparison, or set a whole number from 0 to 255 to ignore small differences. A pixel counts only when its largest channel difference is greater than the threshold.
- Compare the changed-pixel count and raw maximum difference. Download the PNG difference map and JSON receipt, which records both original SHA-256 fingerprints, dimensions, tolerance and separate file-byte and pixel equality results.
Frequently asked questions
What does a black difference map mean?
At threshold 0, black means the compared decoded RGBA values match. At a higher threshold, black means differences are within tolerance, not necessarily zero. Above-threshold differences appear as opaque grayscale pixels whose brightness equals the largest channel difference. Inspect the numerical result because small differences can be hard to see.
Can I compare a resized image with its original?
The images must have the same decoded dimensions. This tool does not align, resize or perceptually match them. It compares browser-decoded, orientation-corrected canvas values; browser color handling and normalization of transparent RGB can affect those values.
Why can matching pixels have different SHA-256 fingerprints?
SHA-256 fingerprints every original file byte, including saved metadata and encoding. Two files can decode to the same pixels while their file bytes differ. The receipt records file identity and decoded pixel equality separately. Use the metadata comparison tool to inspect supported saved creation records.
Does an image difference prove editing or AI generation?
No. Encoding, color conversion, orientation and ordinary exports can change decoded pixels. This comparison does not establish origin, ownership, authenticity or which file came first. Files are processed locally; only a receipt you choose to download or copy contains their fingerprints.
