Playground AI image detector: records in the export

Playground publishes no documentation we could find of Content Credentials or source-type metadata in its exports as of October 2026, so isGenAI identifies a Playground image only from the records actually present in the file.

AI source type declared

The file labels itself as AI-made.

IPTC DigitalSourceType such as trainedAlgorithmicMedia is read from XMP and shown with its exact value.

What could be verified

Searches for Playground’s provenance practices return only unrelated services with similar names, including Black Forest Labs’ developer playground, which does attach Content Credentials. Playground itself documents nothing we could find about C2PA, IPTC DigitalSourceType or prompt metadata in downloads.

Do not confuse the two: a BFL playground download carries a BFL credential; a Playground export must be inspected.

What isGenAI reads

The checker validates any C2PA manifest, reads IPTC source types from XMP, quotes AI statements in metadata, reads AUTOMATIC1111, ComfyUI and InvokeAI prompt records and matches the hash and perceptual fingerprint against its records. Each finding is shown with its field.

An empty result is reported as “no evidence found” and never replaced with a pixel-based estimate.

Getting a usable file

Export at full size from the Playground library and upload that file directly. A copy from a chat or social feed has usually been re-encoded. If the image was shared widely, the matching-copy check may link it to an earlier copy that still carried records.

The EXIF viewer shows every raw field for your own reading.

Playground has also offered canvas editing and mixed-image workflows. A composite assembled from several generations is a single new export, so a record found in one source image does not automatically describe the finished file you were sent.

How to check an image from this generator

  1. Get the original download, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat or social feed.
  2. Upload it to the free AI image detector. Files up to 20 MiB in PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or TIFF are read on the server and are private by default.
  3. Open “How we checked” and read each finding with its source field: signed record, declared source type, saved prompt, AI statement or matching copy.
  4. Treat a clean result as “no evidence found”, never as proof that a person made the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Does Playground add metadata to AI images?

We found no Playground documentation as of October 2026. Inspect the export; isGenAI reports whatever C2PA, IPTC, AI statement or saved prompt records it holds.

Is Playground the same as the Black Forest Labs playground?

No. BFL documents Content Credentials on its developer playground output. Playground the image service documents nothing we could find.

Is a Playground image detectable after a screenshot?

No. Screenshots carry no file records and isGenAI does not infer origin from pixels.

What does no evidence found mean?

That none of the records isGenAI reads are present. It is not proof that a person created the image.
