Set the size limit. Download an image that fits.

Choose your maximum file size in KB or MB. The tool tries JPEG or WebP quality settings and can reduce dimensions when you allow it. Every offered download is checked against your limit. Review the preview before sharing; smaller files can lose detail.

Your selected file stays on this device. Processing uses your browser, without upload.

PNG, JPEG or WebP · Up to 20 MiB and 12 million pixels · JPEG or WebP output

Choose the maximum file size

10 KB–10 MB. Decimal units: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes; 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes.

JPEG uses a white background. WebP can retain transparency. Review the exported image.

Meet an upload limit in three steps

  1. Choose the original. Select one still PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 20 MiB and 12 million decoded pixels. Keep the original for editing or provenance records.
  2. Set the limit and output format. Enter 50, 100 or 200 KB, or another limit from 10 KB to 10 MB. Choose JPEG for a white background or WebP to retain transparency. Turn off dimension reduction if your destination requires the original width and height.
  3. Review the verified result. Compare input and output dimensions, exact bytes and the preview. Download the result only if its readability meets your needs. If the bounded search cannot fit the limit, try a larger limit or allow smaller dimensions.

Example: a 100 KB upload limit

Set 100 KB to allow at most 100,000 bytes. The tool can offer a smaller output; it does not pad the file to exactly 100 KB. If the destination uses 100 KiB, that equals 102,400 bytes, so the 100 KB setting is a slightly stricter limit. The example image is synthetic and tests processing, not detector accuracy.

File-size compression questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB, 50 KB or 200 KB?

Select an image, choose KB and enter your maximum size. The browser tries bounded quality settings and, if permitted, smaller dimensions. A download is offered only when its actual bytes are at or below the chosen limit. Check the preview: meeting a byte limit does not guarantee legibility or acceptance by every upload form.

Does this make the file exactly the requested size?

No. Your setting is a maximum. An output below the limit is valid and is not padded with extra bytes. This tool uses decimal units: 1 KB is 1,000 bytes and 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. The result also displays exact bytes.

Will my image dimensions change?

Only when you allow dimension reduction and the tested quality settings do not fit at the original decoded size. The tool never enlarges the image. It preserves proportions as closely as whole-pixel dimensions allow. Disable dimension reduction when width and height must stay fixed; if the limit cannot be met, no oversized result is offered. Fixed dimensions refer to the browser-decoded image, including its handling of EXIF orientation. Browser color conversion can also affect appearance.

Can I compress without losing image quality?

JPEG and WebP quality settings can remove detail. The selected quality is an encoder setting, not a percentage of original visual quality. Smaller dimensions also discard pixels. The search chooses a fitting tested result; it does not prove the smallest possible file or the highest possible visual quality. Keep the original and inspect text, faces and fine edges.

What happens to transparency and saved metadata?

JPEG fills transparent areas with white; WebP can retain transparency. Both are newly encoded files. Original EXIF, saved prompts, color profiles and Content Credentials are not preserved by this export workflow. Visible names, faces and watermarks remain. Compression is not complete privacy redaction or evidence of human or AI authorship.

Is my file uploaded, and which inputs work?

Your selected file stays in the browser; no account or model call is needed. Still PNG, JPEG and WebP inputs are supported up to 20 MiB and 12 million decoded pixels. Animated PNG/WebP, multi-picture JPEG/MPO, unsupported or damaged files are rejected. JPEG and WebP output support depends on the browser. The bounded search may stop without a fitting result.

Can the output be larger than my original?

Yes. Re-encoding to another format or quality can increase the byte size while still fitting your chosen limit. If your original already meets the upload requirements, you may not need to compress it. Compare exact input and output bytes before downloading.
