Convert HEIC to JPG. Keep your photos private.

Turn an HEIC photo into a shareable JPG or PNG without uploading it. Choose your format, preview the converted image and save a new copy. Your original stays untouched.

Your photo stays in this browser. No upload. No account.

HEIC · up to 20 MiB · up to 12 million pixels · primary still image only

Output format

Higher quality usually makes a larger file. JPG uses a white background for transparency.

From HEIC photo to a file you can share

  1. Choose your HEIC file. Select an original HEIC photo up to 20 MiB and 12 million pixels. The decoder loads when you start converting, then runs in a separate browser worker.
  2. Pick JPG or PNG. Use JPG for a broadly compatible photo and adjust its quality. Choose PNG when you want a lossless export of the decoded 8-bit pixels, including supported transparency.
  3. Review and download. Check the preview, dimensions and file size. Download the new copy or change the settings and convert again. You can cancel an ongoing conversion.

A practical photo copy, with clear export limits

This tool converts the primary still image. It does not export every image in a collection, Live Photo video, animation, depth maps or HDR gain maps. Output is 8-bit; original color profiles, EXIF, GPS and Content Credentials are not copied. Check the preview when color fidelity matters and retain the original for archival use.

Try a controlled HEIC example

The sample is a 96 × 64 color pattern: red on the left, green at the upper right and blue at the lower right. It lets you check that conversion and download work before choosing a personal photo. It is a generated test pattern, not an authenticity test.

HEIC conversion questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?

Choose your HEIC file, leave JPG selected, set the quality and select Convert image. Review the preview, then download your JPG. This tool is free and requires no account. Each file must be at most 20 MiB with a primary image of at most 12 million pixels.

Are my HEIC photos uploaded?

No. Your selected photo is decoded and converted in this browser. The site downloads a local decoder when conversion starts; it does not send your photo or filename to an image-processing server. You can cancel decoding, and the original file is unchanged.

Can I convert HEIC to PNG without losing quality?

PNG preserves the decoded 8-bit pixels without an additional lossy encoding step. It cannot recover detail already lost in the HEIC file and does not preserve the original HDR, bit depth, color profile or metadata. JPG adds lossy compression, with a quality control from 10 to 100.

Will the JPG be smaller than the HEIC file?

Not necessarily. HEIC can store photos efficiently, and either JPG or PNG may be larger than the original. This tool shows the actual output size. Lower JPG quality can reduce that size; use the separate target-size compressor if you need to work toward a specific upload limit.

Does this convert iPhone Live Photos and every image in a HEIC collection?

It exports the primary still image only. It does not export Live Photo video, animation, depth data or all images in a collection. A result with multiple top-level images includes a notice that only the primary image was converted.

Why can’t my HEIC file be converted?

The file may be damaged, use unsupported HEIF features or exceed the 20 MiB or 12-million-pixel limits. Files must declare a supported HEIC brand; renaming another format to .heic does not convert it. Decoding stops after 30 seconds. Try a smaller original photo in a current browser.
