isGenAI vs Hive AI-generated content detection

Hive runs classifiers that score whether an image, video or audio clip is AI-generated, name the likely generator and flag deepfakes, through a paid API with free credits and a free Chrome extension; its API also returns C2PA metadata when present. isGenAI focuses on the file’s records: C2PA, IPTC labels and saved prompts, free and with no API key.

isGenAI (isgenai.com) is not affiliated with Hive. Looking for Hive itself? Go to thehive.ai.

When to use which

Choose Hive when

  • You need video, audio or deepfake scoring at scale; Hive covers those and isGenAI does not score them.
  • You moderate user uploads and want a generator attribution for images with no records.
  • You need an on-premises deployment.

Choose isGenAI when

  • You want the full reading of the records, not just a pass-through: signer, signature validity and trust kept separate, IPTC source type, saved prompt and settings.
  • You need a free API call with no payment method on file.
  • You want no-account checks in the browser for single files.

Content Credentials found

A signed manifest describes how the file was made.

Signer, recording tool, actions and the signature check result are reported separately, so you can weigh each one.

How to do the same job with isGenAI

  1. Get the original file, ideally the download from the generator or the sender, not a screenshot or a copy re-saved by a social app.
  2. Open the free AI image detector at isgenai.com/ai-image-detector and upload the file. No account is needed.
  3. Read each finding with the field it came from: a C2PA manifest, an IPTC digital source type, a saved prompt or generator metadata.
  4. If the report says no AI evidence was found, treat that as “no record in this copy”, then look for the original source or run a pixel-based classifier if you need a probability.

Questions

Is isGenAI a free alternative to Hive’s AI detector?

For reading file records, yes: no account, no payment method, no key. For classifier scores on video, audio or deepfakes, Hive offers coverage isGenAI does not.

Hive returns C2PA too. What does isGenAI add?

isGenAI reports C2PA signature validity and signer trust as separate results, reads IPTC digital source type labels and extracts saved prompts from AUTOMATIC1111, ComfyUI, InvokeAI and NovelAI files.

Can I combine them?

Yes. Read the records with isGenAI first; when a file has none, a classifier like Hive’s can provide a probability as a lead.

Is isGenAI affiliated with Hive?

No. isGenAI is independent and not affiliated with Hive. Facts here come from Hive’s own pages as of October 2026.
