Add Padding to an Image

Add an equal solid-color border around all four sides without stretching the original pixels.

Your selected images stay in this browser. No AI model call or server upload.

Selected files: 0 · PNG, JPEG and WebP. Up to 8 MB per file and 12 million decoded pixels. Batch totals cannot exceed 40 MB. Exports are still images; animation is not retained.

Settings

Exported images do not carry the original saved prompts, EXIF or Content Credentials. Keep the original file when you need its creation records.

Padding is measured in pixels per side. The output grows by twice that amount in each dimension. The original image is centered inside the selected background color.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the image that needs a border or extra space around its edges.
  2. Set Padding from 0 to 2000 pixels per side and choose a background color.
  3. Run the tool and review the larger output dimensions. Download the PNG once the spacing looks right.

Frequently asked questions

Does padding stretch the original image?

No. The original pixels are drawn at their original size in the center of a larger canvas. The same amount of space is added to the top, bottom, left and right.

Can I add transparent padding?

The current control chooses a solid RGB color. The entire canvas uses that color, including any transparent areas in the source. The tool does not create a transparent border.
