Find the Average Image Color

Calculate the alpha-weighted average RGB color of an image and inspect its hexadecimal value.

Your selected images stay in this browser. No AI model call or server upload.

Selected files: 0 · PNG, JPEG and WebP. Up to 8 MB per file and 12 million decoded pixels. Batch totals cannot exceed 40 MB. Exports are still images; animation is not retained.

Exported images do not carry the original saved prompts, EXIF or Content Credentials. Keep the original file when you need its creation records.

Each channel is averaged using alpha as its weight. Fully transparent pixels contribute nothing. The result averages decoded display values, not linear-light color or a physical scene measurement.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
  2. Run the calculation to average each RGB channel using pixel alpha as its weight.
  3. Read the resulting color swatch, hex and RGB values. Download the JSON if you need to reuse the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is the average color the most common color in an image?

No. An average combines channel values and may produce a color that appears nowhere in the original. Use the image color palette to inspect the most common approximate color groups instead.

What happens with a completely transparent image?

There are no visible pixels to average, so the result contains no average color. Partially transparent pixels contribute in proportion to their alpha value; fully transparent pixels contribute nothing.
