Invert Image Colors
Turn each red, green and blue channel into its opposite while preserving the alpha channel.
Your selected images stay in this browser. No AI model call or server upload.
Selected files: 0 · PNG, JPEG and WebP. Up to 8 MB per file and 12 million decoded pixels. Batch totals cannot exceed 40 MB. Exports are still images; animation is not retained.
Exported images do not carry the original saved prompts, EXIF or Content Credentials. Keep the original file when you need its creation records.
The transformation maps each channel value to 255 minus its original value. Black becomes white, and other colors become their digital complements. This is not a calibrated film-negative conversion.
How to use this tool
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
- Run the tool to replace each RGB channel with 255 minus its current value.
- Review the inverted preview and download the PNG. There are no additional controls for this operation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I invert an image twice to restore its colors?
The channel formula is reversible: 255 − (255 − value) = value. Applying it twice restores decoded RGB values when no other changes occur between runs. Saved metadata is not restored by re-exporting.
Can this convert a scanned film negative accurately?
It can invert digital colors, but it does not compensate for a film stock's color mask, scanning profile or exposure. Use a dedicated film workflow when you need a calibrated negative conversion.
